Generally with Magento the themes that work are premium.  There are a hand full of good themes out there that are free, but as Magento is ever changing the themes often dont work or dont work as intended on the lastest releases.

Listed is a few Good Theme Companies that seem to have got it right.  Paying on average $100 a theme can save hours of time and big savings on bespoke themes.  Also the cost of these these themes are usually covered within the first few sales of the site, so in some cases, its seems a no lose situation.

• Nice Tidy Themes.  Great themes to understand and modify.

Hello Themes

• Actually used one these guys Free themes and was very impressed.  The premium themes are even more impressing.

Woo Themes

• They create very good WordPress themes, and by the looks there magento themes are just as good.  Limited themes at the minute, but im sure we will see something good soon.
